Paving the way for women of Calgary to feel comfortable in their own bodies with her endeavour of Worthy and Fabulous YYC, Tyneal Buchanan has an energy about her that is extraordinary and unlike any other. With wild pink hair and a glowing smile, she stands out in any room and any crowd. People gravitate towards her because of her exuberant confidence, and stay near her because of her kindness, support, and ability to see the absolute best in people. She is committed to helping every woman she meets fall in love with themselves.
The path for Tyneal to get where she is today wasn’t an easy one. She has struggled with yo-yo dieting and gaining and losing 100 pounds multiple times trying to meet society’s standard of what is beautiful and “healthy”. If she wasn’t crash dieting, she was spending an ample amount of money on things that she thought would give her those same feelings. Thinking that if she became a certain size, or if she had this gadget or gizmo, she would be happy. She was sorely disappointed when sizes and stuff did not fill the empty space that was unhappiness.
Through all the adversities and hard work that Tyneal has faced and after taking a very deep and introspective look at herself, she has realized that accepting herself for who she is, is the key to happiness. It has brought her to a place where she is building a community of women to feel safe, to be themselves without the fear of being judged; a place where they can go to move their bodies through a variety of means such as Bollywood dance, barre, yoga, and pound. She has watched as they have fun, laugh, smile, and find a confidence within themselves they didn’t know existed. Through her community of Worthy and Fabulous, she is watching women have a flame lit within themselves, stepping through doors that scare them, and build a confidence that they can take out into the world.
Someone recently asked her, “How does it feel to love yourself?”, and she responded with, “I am living as my most authentic self for the first time in my entire life and it is an incredible, freeing feeling. Life is filled with contentment, joyfulness, excitement, and every day feels brighter. I’m truly happy.” Tyneal would love nothing more than every woman who walks through her door to one day feel the same.
